Get New Year Ready with a Closet Refresh
The new year is upon us once again, and it’s the perfect time for clean slates and fresh beginnings. Take this time to clean out your closet and start 2017 off right.
Use the Golden Rule
You’ve probably heard it before, “if you haven’t worn it in two years, get rid of it.” Getting rid of clothes you haven’t worn in two full seasonal cycles helps cut down on clutter and makes room for new pieces.
There’s no one right way to organize, but an organized closet makes busy mornings easier, and gives you a sense of order.
A good place to start is boxing up the clothes you won’t wear for a few months (think: shorts, bathing suits, sandals). You’ll be left with just what you need for this season, making it easier to find what you’re looking for.
From there, organize your remaining clothes by style, color or even by outfit. Doing the hard part in the beginning of the year makes it effortless to keep organized throughout the coming months.
It’s a new year and a chance for a new start, why not give yourself something to look forward to in 2017? Pick up a few pieces that you’ll be excited to wear, and put them in your newly organized closet.
If you’re not anxious to spend money on new clothes, try doing the closet cleaning exercise with a few friends, and throw a party where you all exchange pieces you’d otherwise throw out.
